Robbie KEANE on Small Victories
Irish soccer legend Robbie Keane teamed up CMRF Crumlin to support its 'Small Victories Everyday' campaign which enables children living with chronic illnesses get the most out of their everyday life.
The all time top scorer met with kids at St. Joseph's Ward and had this to say when asked why he was supporting this new campaign, "Every child deserves a happy childhood and a day-to-day filled with things that make them smile."
This new campaign will enable CMRF to continue helping improve the quality of everyday life for children affected by chronic and debilitating illnesses, by funding important medical research, care and initiatives. Thousands of children pass through the doors of Crumlin Children’s Hospital each year with debilitating conditions that many will live with for the rest of their lives. Last year for example, 250 cystic fibrosis patients received treatment at the hospital, 14,287 orthopaedic patients were seen as outpatients and just over 7,000 dermatology patients were treated for a range of skin conditions.
Speaking about the Supporting Small Victories Every Day campaign launch, Lisa-Nicole Dunne, CEO of CMRF Crumlin, said, "Improving the quality of life for children with chronic illnesses who spend much of their childhood years receiving treatment from the incredible doctors and nurses at the OLCHC is an utmost priority for CMRF Crumlin. We hope that the public will join us in support of this cause, helping us to increase our funding of essential paediatric research and medical care to provide children living with chronic and often life-long conditions, like cystic fibrosis, asthma and juvenile arthritis, to enjoy little everyday victories and get the most out of life. There are so many children, who might not be in-patients, but who face daily challenges and need our support to ensure they have the best opportunities and advancements available."
