CMRF Crumlin deeply saddened by Gay Byrne's passing
The Board and staff of CMRF Crumlin is deeply saddened to hear news of our long-time board-member, colleague and friend Gay Byrne’s passing today.
We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to Gay’s wife Kathleen, daughters Crona and Suzy and their entire family at this difficult time.
Gay Byrne served on the board of CMRF Crumlin for nearly two decades until 2014 and - during that time - he worked tirelessly to make a real difference for sick children and their families. In 2015, Gay was recognised for his contribution during the Foundation’s 50th year celebrations in Dublin.
Expressing her condolences on behalf of CMRF Crumlin, Chief Executive of the Children’s Health Foundation Denise Fitzgerald said: “Gay played a pivotal role in the Foundation’s fight to do whatever it takes for sick children in Ireland. His contribution to the annual car raffle campaign raised millions of euro that built wards, funded patient programs and formed the basis of many paediatric research programs.
She added, “He was a warm, compassionate and selfless person who went above and beyond to support our hospital and patients. I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to Gay’s wife Kathleen, daughters Crona and Suzy and all his family and friends. Our dear friend Gay will be sadly missed. May he Rest In Peace.”
