Starting May 29th 2017 I set off from Muff in Co Donegal and walked all 2,500 kms of the Wild Atlantic Way to raise funds for CMRF Crumlin
In 2017 I walked all 2,500 kms of the Wild Atlantic Way to raise funds for CMRF providing vital funding for Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin and The National Children's Research Centre.
- Start Date: May 29th 2017
- Set off from: Muff in Co. Donegal
- Finished at: Kinsale, Co. Cork
- Duration: Probably three months
- My donation page was: https://www.cmrf.org/event/a-bit-of-a-walk
Why I took on this challenge:
Well, Brenda and I have five children (grown up) and seven grandchildren from 19 years down to 9 months. We consider ourselves most fortunate that they have never had to avail of the wonderful care provided by Crumlin Hospital where many of the most seriously ill children and their families are cared for by a wonderful team of dedicated professionals. Hopefully my challenge, with your support, contributed in some small way to help the children in Crumlin Hospital.
From time to time along this journey I was joined by family, friends and neighbours and I met people along the way as well, like local walking and hiking groups.
I maintained a Facebook page to track my progress, publish some photos and any other news around this event.

And I got people to donate on the CMRF website:
