Carrolls Irish Gifts Chairman Colm Carroll presenting a cheque for €9,190 to CMRF Crumlin's Philip Jones with the money raised through a combination of charity boxes in-store and staff fundraising events throughout 2016.
Carrolls Irish Gifts are a 100% Irish owned company who have been in business for 34 years. They employ over 360 people nationwide, and work with over 80 Irish suppliers.
When asked why they chose CMRF Crumlin as their nominated charity of the year, Colm Carroll explained: "Carrolls are delighted to have CMRF as our nominated charity partner. It is a medical facility particularly close to my own heart. I come from a large family and was born and reared in Walkinstown which is close to Crumlin Hospital. My brothers and also my sister had reasons to use the hospital many times during our childhood with issues ranging from broken limbs to kidney operations."
He added: "When my own daughter Amy was born, she had some life threatening complications and spent many weeks in the Intensive Care Ward of Crumlin’s Children Hospital. The medical team under Prof John Fitzgerald gave Amy incredible care and thankfully she made a complete recovery. It is great to have the team at Carrolls Irish Gifts and particularly my colleague Dara De Buitlear supporting such a worthwhile charity with their fund raising activities, and we look forward to doing so again in 2017."
