Crumlin close to Carrolls Irish Gifts' heart
Carroll's Irish Gifts has chosen CMRF Crumlin as their chosen charity for the second year running.
In 2016 Carroll's Irish Gifts raised almost €10,000 through a combination of charity boxes in-store and staff fundraising events. So far this year Carroll's Irish Gifts have organised a head shave in April that raised €2625 and have other events scheduled throughout the year.
Carroll's Irish Gifts are a 100% Irish owned company who have been in business for 34 years. They employ over 360 people nationwide, and work with over 80 Irish suppliers. When asked why they chose CMRF Crumlin as their nominated charity of the year, Colm Carroll explained:
"Carroll's are delighted to have CMRF as our nominated charity partner. It is a medical facility particularly close to my own heart. I come from a large family and was born and reared in Walkinstown which is close to Crumlin Hospital. My brothers and also my sister had reasons to use the hospital many times during our childhood with issues ranging from broken limbs to kidney operations."
Colm went on to say, "When my own daughter Amy was born, she had some life threatening complications and spent many weeks in the Intensive Care Ward of Crumlin’s Children Hospital. The medical team under Prof John Fitzgerald gave Amy incredible care and thankfully she made a complete recovery. It is great to have the team at Carroll's Irish Gifts and particularly my colleague Dara De Buitlear supporting such a worthwhile charity with their fund raising activities, and we look forward to doing so again throughout 2017."
