The heart of the organisation
Helping sick children is the heart and driving force of Children's Health Foundation Crumlin, formerly CMRF Crumlin. We support a number of organisations in driving change for children's health, but the patient is at the heart of everything we do. The goal is to connect donors and the public with the ability to make real and meaningful differences in the lives of sick children and future generations of children by helping prevent illness through discoveries today.
Today, tomorrow, forever.
We prioritise research, innovation and education as a core focus and how it can make the greatest impact for sick children through donors. This is a leadership role, choosing to invest approximately half of the funds available into long-term, innovative, discovery and transformational research programmes that aim to drive breakthroughs, and find preventative and curative strategies for children's health issues. We believe that knowledge is life saving and that developing the community, culture and possibilities for greater knowledge will maximise the potential to save and improve children's lives.
- For every sick child
We want to help find answers for even rare and complex disease and illnesses, as the core belief is that every sick child deserves every chance. Decisions around grants or research investments are not made on return on investment basis, and instead about the potential impact on lives, in increasing life span, mortality, significantly improving outcomes and quality of life, or making a difference in pain management, and therapies available to children with chronic illness as part of their everyday.
We fund programmes, equipment and research that can benefit children who are significantly affected by childhood illness, disease or disability, making a difference for very seriously ill children and their families. Grants have an impact on a large number of children, or a small number but where it is time sensitive and urgent, or where children who are facing long stays or significant upheaval can benefit.
We back innovation that seeks out new and improved, gentle treatments and we fund the extra that helps incredible care teams provide more extraordinary care.
- Every step of the way
We provide vital funding and supports right across the patient journey from early diagnosis, to patient experience and unfortunately at times to end of life with palliative care supports.
